Charlotte–crosspost

Charlotte is a super cute, petite Dober girl with wonderfully expressive large, floppy, natural ears and a docked tail who is currently being fostered through Doberman Underground in the Cincinnati area. She is about 3-4 years old and came to rescue as part a court case.  She came with multiple physical scars all over her body. With good care and nutrition in her foster home, she has grown a beautiful thick black coat that covers many of these scars that still lie under the surface. However, the ones still more obvious are her emotional scars. With previously minimal socialization, she did not learn to trust people and many household basics were (and some still are) novelties to her. She is crate trained and will need to be crated when left alone so as to not get into trouble trying to discover all of those new household items on her own (for example, the fun of chewing up a new pack of toilet paper). She is not an “out of the box” girl and will need a little patience in her new home to learn to trust someone new. For this reason, she would not do well in a home with young children as it’s too much stimulation and excitement for her (she is not child aggressive and may be fine with occasional visiting children who understand and respect her boundaries). Once she learns to trust her adult humans though, she is an absolute love bug! Her true Dobe personality comes out and she LOVES to have her ears and belly rubbed or a good hiney scratching and she’ll cuddle up on the couch with you. Char also love, love, loves her bed! For a little girl who never had her own bed, it is now her “go to” place for relaxing and getting away from too much stimulation. This sweet girl does not need an excessive amount of exercise but will need to continue to work on her leash skills and basic obedience training. She is house trained and does well with treat motivation to continue this…and treat motivation works for many other things as well in this very food-motivated girl! Char requires a physical fence in her new home and will probably be best with at least 1 other dobe to help with her confidence–though she’s not quite learned how to “play” despite attempts from other dogs in her foster home. She is also cat friendly. If you have a little patience, this absolutely adorable little girl will return ALL of the affection you give her and then some!
