ripley

This adorable “little” girl is Miss Ripley!  Ripley is about 4 years old, a little on the hefty side, but she’s been workin on her figure.  Ripley loves to run and play w/her 2 foster brothers but can forget how big she is and get a little rough sometimes.  In the house she loves to play tug, rip up stuffies, and snuggle on the bed and couch with her brothers (and people) and giveeveryone kisses.

Ripley is pretty in tune with how her person is feeling and acts a bit like a mirror.  If you are confident, she’s pretty confident.  If you are nervous, she is nervous.  We were told she was nervous around strangers, but has met multiple strangers w/o incident.  The only “incident” we’ve had was family showing up at Christmas and she was startled when they appeared at the door.  Once, after only a few moments, it was determined these were friends and not foes she happily mingled w/everyone trying to solicit pets from all parties.  A job well done protecting and alerting her people.

She does have a couple vices.  She is a major counter surfer and has ZERO cares about stealing your food.  She will steal your food from the counter, out of the fridge, out of your hand, off your plate, maybe even steal your plate, and out of a hot skillet.  Another vice is while she loves her foster brothers and loves playing w/them, she does not always like sharing chew toys with them.  She is easy to divert before things escalate.  The guarding issue has never been directed at a person, but out of caution she would probably do better in a home w/o young children.  In the area of kitties, its still up in the air.  Her previous owner advised she did not do well w/kitties, but the couple times she met onewith her foster mom, she did fairly well.  The kitty was very dog savvy and not the type to run away.  She was given multiple chances walk up and greet him and only had one growl to which I’m pretty sure the kitty rolled his eyes at.  At that she was encouraged to turn and walk away and did so w/o a fuss.  At no point did she bark, lunge, attempt to chase or attack in any way.  Maybe she got the “Mess around and find out” vibe from him and she just didn’t want to find out.

Ripley is crate trained although she will tell you how she feels about it for a little bit before she settles down.  She may also try to test and trick you into thinking she’s not.  That said she’s been good out of her crate at night (she really likes to sleep w/her people) and her foster mom doesn’t see any reason to believe she would be too much of a problem free roaming throughout the day so long as all food is put away.  Que counter surfing.  She is a smart girl.  She knows sit, down, stay, shake, and in a non “trick” area…..how to lift the toilet seat to get a drink.  The potential to learn more is there if someone wanted to work more with her!

Ripley wants a family to spoil her and snuggle with and a big fenced in yard to play in w/a buddy who can handle a big boisterous girl who may or may not try to wrestle them to the ground and clean his ears and wash his face.
